SUMMER WEBINAR SERIES:
Mission: heaps and volume calculation
During the meeting, practical examples of the use of drones in the creation of orthophotos, terrain modeling, investment monitoring and architectural inventories were presented. Much attention was paid to heap measurements, which, thanks to photogrammetry, make it possible to reduce the measurement error from 7% to 3%, while eliminating the need to enter heaps, which significantly improves safety. Business aspects were also discussed, such as the selection of raid frequencies, pricing of services, customer acquisition based on locality and technological advantage.
The experts outlined the differences between photogrammetry and Lidar, indicating when it makes sense to reach for each technology. They also described how they use Agisoft software in practice, as well as the SkySnap portal, which allows remote measurement and online report generation. Using the example of implementations in mines and in monitoring the ash tank at the Belchatow Power Plant, it was shown that drones work well both in open terrain and in hard-to-reach areas.
