Highlights

  • What’s new: import and visualization of IFC (BIM) models and mesh review and analysis in the SkySnap Portal.
  • Why it matters: a single portal supports a consistent workflow between surveying, design (BIM) and contractor teams, without the need to flip data between multiple tools.

What IFC support brings to SkySnap Portal

Support for the IFC format enables the collation of three-dimensional design models (BIM) with field and photogrammetric data from drone raids. This allows engineers, designers and contractors to verify the design’s conformity to the actual site condition in one place, catch discrepancies faster and make decisions on site more efficiently.

3D mesh models as clear visualization of objects

The mesh models complement point clouds and facilitate a quick, intuitive overview of built-up areas and objects with complex geometry. This is particularly useful for inventories, renovations and ongoing progress management.

Benefits for organizations and projects

  • Full workflow in one place: fewer exports and imports and less risk of data transfer errors.
  • Better comparison of design vs. reality: juxtaposition of IFC with measurement and image data speeds up non-compliance detection.
  • Faster communication and reporting: browser-based review of 3D models makes it easier to collaborate with developer and teams on multiple sites.

Exert statements

“Adding support for IFC and mesh models is another step in the Portal’s development. We enable customers to work on the full spectrum of spatial data in a single, browser-based environment, which realistically speeds up inventory processes and execution decisions.”
Przemyslaw Kapeluszny, Product Owner, SkySnap

“Integrating BIM and field data into a single portal addresses the needs of construction and engineering. We combine design data with measurements and 3D models to help reduce costs and project risk.”
Pawel Wojcik, Director of Business Development, SkySnap

The SkySnap portal supports, among other things.

Orthophotos (GeoTIFF), point clouds (LAZ/LAS), DTM/DSM terrain models, 3D mesh models, BIM models (IFC), browser-based measurement and reporting tools, and map integrations (e.g., WMS/WMTS).

About SkySnap

SkySnap is a fast-growing Polish technology company specializing in infrastructure monitoring and inspection using drones and advanced digital technologies. On the one hand, like a service provider, SkySnap helps companies make decisions by providing accurate information from spatial data, and on the other hand, Skysnap builds artificial intelligence-based tools for automated measurement and analysis of critical infrastructure using data from drones or other image sources.

  • How are drones changing property condition management? Diagnostics start with the roof.

Managing a modern building is a constant battle against the passage of time and the destructive influence of nature. Whether you're looking after an office building, an industrial hall or a housing development, the greatest dangers lurk where the eye can't see - in the highest parts of the structure and in hard-to-reach places. The roof, gutters, flashings and facade details are the front line in the clash with rain, frost and UV radiation.

  • Webinar: 23.04 Drones in Real Estate: Roof Inspections

The roof is one of the most expensive parts of a building... especially when problems are noticed too late. Leaks, damage or lingering water often remain invisible without an expensive and risky visual inspection.

What if you could check the condition of the roof quickly, accurately, and without climbing high?

During the webinar, we will show how to use roof inspection drones in practice - not just to take pictures, but to create real-world useful documentation that supports renovation decisions and conversations with contractors.
